Since graduating in BA Hons Fine Art in Cardiff Saj has developed her career as a freelance project manager and artist educator in a broad range of arts education projects. She has worked in museums, galleries and other organisations for over 15 years including Fabrica, Towner, Arts Council England and Creative Partnerships. She has a keen interest in working with disadvantaged groups, promoting the arts to a wider audience and as a tool for expression and creativity. She is currently developing projects around intercultural dialogue.
As a visual artist Saj employs medium such as discarded tights, stockings and jumpers as the raw material. She manipulates these into works that stretch and unravel themes of order and chaos beyond the viewers everyday association.
The process of deconstructing and reconstructing are central to her creative practice. The use of colour is also a focal point in her exploration, resulting in work, which plays with your sense of perception.
